Benefits
Salary: $36.06 - $62.50 per hour. Overview
Provides advisory services and advice to farmers on planting and fertilizing, harvesting, livestock and poultry care, disease prevention, farm management, farm finance, marketing and other agricultural topics.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and deliver advisory meetings and conferences for farmers and other groups.
• Conduct research, analyze agricultural data and prepare research reports.
• Liaise with government or corporate researchers, educators and managers on agricultural and farming issues.
• Keep a record of the services provided and the effect of advice given.
• Agricultural representatives, consultants and experts can specialize in specific aspects of agriculture such as animal science, field crops, horticulture, soil science, irrigation or drainage, site management farming, marketing, agribusiness, land use and environmental management, assessment or extension, and education.
Additional training and experience may be preferred.
Additional certifications may be required.
• Valid and travel-ready driver’s license.
• Ability to work outdoors, standing, walking, kneeling and stooping for long periods of time.
• Proficient in using computers, especially MS Office and scientific diagnostic software.
• Outstanding active oral and written listening and communication skills.
• Strong research, decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of industry trends, technologies and developments.
• Sales and presentation skills.
