On average the Fenland OPMH service receives 76 referrals per month, with approx. 9 for psychiatry outpatient and 36 for memory assessment. /p pSalary £109,725 – £145,478 per annum plus £40,000 Recruitment and Retention Premium (TCs apply). /p h3Clinical Responsibilities /h3 ul liLead the multidisciplinary team in providing excellent psychiatric care. /li liProvide assessment, diagnosis and treatment plans – many assessments involve patients referred for possible dementia. /li liLead weekly MDT meetings and ensure prompt reviews of acutely unwell patients. /li liWork closely with the CRHTT OP, community teams and liaison services as patients move between these teams. /li liDeliver evidence‑based treatments. /li liMaintain accurate and up‑to‑date clinical records using our EPR, SystmOne. /li liPartake in cross‑cover for consultant colleagues during annual and study leave to maintain continuous service. /li /ul pThe Trust is actively involved in clinical research and would encourage candidates to participate in research activities. /p h3Leadership /h3 ul liProvide clinical leadership for the Older Peoples Services during a period of considerable transition. /li liSupport the consultant body’s involvement in regional and national groups, subject to discussion and approval with the medical director and, as necessary, the chief executive officer. /li /ul h3Teaching and Education /h3 ul liContribute to the psychiatry postgraduate teaching programme. /li liSupport training and development of staff within the wider multidisciplinary team. /li liParticipate in postgraduate teaching and continuing medical education activities. /li liProvide mentoring to new consultants and help them find an appropriate peer group. /li liCPD time is incorporated into the job plan, with a study leave budget available to support CPD activities externally. /li liMaintain good standing for CPD with the Royal College of Psychiatrists. /li liAttend Friday morning CPD sessions via Teams and offer opportunities for consultants to present. /li liAttend Friday afternoon CPD activities such as journal club, case discussions and management meetings. /li liEncourage further training and supervision for trainees. /li /ul h3Administration /h3 ul liWork with CPFT to achieve agreed performance targets. /li liContribute to the collection and monitoring of clinical outcome data for service development and commissioning purposes. /li liParticipate in audit. /li liAdminister patient information systems and ensure data entry complies with service policies and guidance. /li liWork in accordance with Trust and service policies and guidelines. /li /ul h3Management /h3 ul liCollaborate with the Service Manager and Clinical Director to manage the Older People’s Acute Care System. /li liContribute to the planning and further development of Older People’s Mental Health Services and the wider community service. /li liAttend meetings relevant to the service interests. /li /ul h3Research /h3 ul liSupport the broader CPFT research endeavour where possible. /li liPotentially act as a principal investigator for clinical trials into dementia and other late‑life mental health disorders or pursue other research interests. /li /ul h3Clinical Governance /h3 ul liAct within locally and nationally agreed protocols and be actively involved in clinical governance within the service. /li /ul h3On‑Call /h3 ul liMay opt to take part in the consultant out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (1:25, Category A). /li liReceive support from core and senior trainees; on‑call remuneration is approximately 3% subject to review. /li liCover old age and general adult patients; a separate CAMHS rota exists. /li /ul h3Other Duties /h3 ul liCarry out additional duties assigned by the Trust, provided reasonable agreement. /li /ul h3Accountability /h3 ul liAccountable to the clinical director in the directorate (currently Dr Anna Forrest) and to the Trust Board through the Executive Medical Director. /li liHold to the revalidation and annual appraisal process under the supervision of the Medical Director and Responsible Officer. /li /ul pThis advert closes on Tuesday 4 Aug 2026. /p pCambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust /p /p ph3Consultant Psychiatrist in Community Old Age Psychiatry - Fenland /h3 pCompany: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust /p pThe successful candidate will work alongside community-based colleagues to provide assessment and psychiatric treatment for older adults within the Fenland community across a largely rural area. /p pThe population of over 65s in the Fenland area is approximately 25,000 out of 113,064.
