Remote Agribusiness Development Consultant

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic international development organization focused on strengthening agricultural value chains, is seeking an experienced Remote Agribusiness Development Consultant. This role is entirely remote and will involve providing expert guidance and strategic support to agribusinesses across various regions. You will assist clients in areas such as market analysis, business planning, access to finance, value chain optimization, and sustainable agricultural practices. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of agribusiness operations, market dynamics, and development principles, coupled with excellent consulting and communication skills. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct market research and feasibility studies for new agribusiness ventures and product development.
• Develop comprehensive business plans, financial models, and investment proposals for clients.
• Advise agribusinesses on improving operational efficiency, supply chain management, and quality control.
• Facilitate access to finance by connecting businesses with investors, lenders, and grant opportunities.
• Identify and analyze value chain bottlenecks and propose strategies for improvement and market integration.
• Provide guidance on implementing sustainable agricultural practices and meeting international standards.
• Develop and deliver training programs and workshops for agribusiness entrepreneurs and managers.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented strategies and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Stay abreast of global trends, policies, and innovations affecting the agribusiness sector.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and project documentation.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Agribusiness, Business Administration (MBA), Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in agribusiness consulting, management, or development, with a strong track record of client advisory.
• Demonstrated expertise in business strategy development, market analysis, financial planning, and value chain development.
• Experience in facilitating access to finance for SMEs in the agricultural sector.
• Knowledge of sustainable agriculture, climate-smart agriculture, and international development principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple client projects effectively.
• Experience working with diverse clients across different agricultural sub-sectors is advantageous.
• Proficiency in relevant business and financial modeling software.
