Remote Sustainable Farming Consultant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Remote Sustainable Farming Consultant to guide agricultural producers in adopting environmentally sound and economically viable farming practices. This role is entirely remote, allowing you to leverage your expertise from anywhere. You will work directly with farmers, cooperatives, and agricultural organizations to assess current operations, develop tailored sustainability plans, and provide ongoing support and training through virtual communication channels. This is a crucial position focused on promoting ecological balance and long-term resilience within the agricultural sector, contributing to greener practices across the industry, impacting farms from Port Elizabeth and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct remote assessments of farming operations to identify areas for improvement in sustainability, resource management, and ecological impact.
• Develop customized sustainable agriculture plans, focusing on soil health, water conservation, biodiversity, and reduced chemical inputs.
• Advise clients on best practices for organic farming, regenerative agriculture, and other eco-friendly methods.
• Provide virtual training and workshops to farmers and agricultural staff on sustainable techniques and certifications.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented sustainability strategies, providing data-driven feedback and adjustments.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, consulting, or agricultural extension services.
• Deep understanding of ecological principles, soil science, water management, and conservation practices.
• Proven ability to develop practical and implementable sustainability strategies for diverse farming systems.
• Excellent virtual communication, presentation, and client management skills.
